Today we discussed the impact of porn on relationships. Most people have delicate ego's and can't withstand the feelings generated by their partner who engages in porn. Negative core beliefs like "I'm not pretty enough, or I'm not enough, or I'm not important" can be triggered by the partner that engages in porn.

Eric Perry, M.A., Psychological Assistant at the Psychological Healing Center works with couples who are struggling with the negative impact of porn on relationships. Eric spoke about how porn can cause an emotional and sexual disconnection between couples. "When the man ejaculates to porn, his desire for his partner is greatly reduced.

It takes him at least 20 minutes to recuperate from the sexual experience, leaving his partner in waiting." Eric went on to talk about how, when the energy is kept within the relationship, virility returns and connection--sexual, and emotional can be healed. Training your sexuality on others (verses your significant other) can dilute the connection and eventually erode the relationship. From a MIND MAP perspective, porn can lead to CHAOS, DEFENSES and BREAKDOWNS.

Porn can be a hole-in-the-soul filler, especially when it is used to manage emotions such as anger, frustration or boredom. Like a drug, orgasm can lift the mood temporarily but the cycle of the drug must continue.

When porn becomes an addiction, it is time to seek help. Therapy and 12 Step programs such as

5. Sexual Recovery Anonymous (SRA) www.sexualrecovery.org
