A spayed rabbit stopped eating overnight. Owner suspected fever.

The owner suspected fever causing the anorexia in her rabbit. Fever was high. A cherry eye was present in the right eye. It is not possible to know the cause of the fever.After an anitbiotic and anti-fever injection and medication, the rabbit recovered. The rabbit had ileus as as result of the high fever. The owner had a 6-month-old male rabbit with one undescended testicle. The other vet advised waiting to see if the testicle would descend. "Do an ultrasound to find the location of the testicle," I advised. "It is highly unlikely that the undescended testicle will come down into the scrotal sac after 6 months of age." With the ultrasound, the presence of the testicle inside the abdomen can be seen if present. If not, the rabbit has only one descended one. A retained abdominal testicle is best checked out by ultrasound as the rabbit may not have any. Such is the diversity of life and veterinary medicine.
