Kentucky State Police identifies man who died during arrest in Latonia

COVINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) - A death investigation led to a heavy police presence in Latonia. Kentucky State Police said a man died during an arrest by Covington Police. Kentucky State Police have identified him as Robert Ennis, 29, of Cincinnati. 

The attempted arrest came during a traffic stop but investigators said Ennis was not in the officer's cruiser. 

Investigators say Ennis showed signs of medical distress. He was given first aid but died.

There were witnesses and investigators are interviewing them. They say there is also body cam video." Our investigation now leads to the death investigation to find out the cause of death as well as go through the same process we do as an officer involved shooting," said KSP Trooper Charles Loudermilk. "Take each step, step by step to figure out what exactly occurred, as well as to piece together the events of the entire night."

Police blocked off 43rd Street and Winston, near the Kroger for hours while they investigated.

Covington Police have called in Kentucky State Police to conduct the investigation.

Police have not released any other information.
