Microsoft Excel Tutorial: How to Compare Worksheets in Excel | Easy Side-by-Side Comparison Method | MrExcel Podcast.

Welcome to another episode of the MrExcel podcast. In this episode, we will be discussing how to compare worksheets in Excel. This is a common task that many Excel users face, and we have a simple solution for you.

The question for today's episode comes from James, who has two different worksheets - one for the United States and one for Denmark. He wants to compare the values in these worksheets side by side. While there are more complex ways to do this, we will be showing you a low-tech solution that is quick and easy.

First, we will open the Denmark worksheet and go to View, then New Window. If you are using Excel 2003, go to Window, then New Window. This will open a new window with the same worksheet. Next, we will go to the United States worksheet and open it in a new window as well. Now, we will go to the View tab in Excel 2007 or 2010, or the Window menu in Excel 2003, and select "View Side by Side". This will give us a side-by-side view of both worksheets.

As we scroll through one worksheet, the other will also scroll in sync. This is a great feature that was introduced in Excel 2003. However, we may need to make some adjustments to get the view just right. We can adjust the column widths and use the Freeze Panes feature to keep certain columns in place as we scroll. We may also need to unmerge any cells in the worksheets to ensure that the data lines up correctly.

And there you have it - a simple and efficient way to compare worksheets in Excel without using any formulas. This method works best when the data is in the same sequence in both worksheets. Thank you for tuning in to this episode of the MrExcel podcast. We hope this tip will save you time and make your Excel tasks easier.
