Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Excel Filter Search: Find and Filter Data Efficiently | MrExcel Podcast. Welcome back to the MrExcel podcast. In this episode, we're diving into chapter 16 of our Rev Up to Excel 2010 series, where we'll be discussing the powerful filter search feature. As many of you know, filter by selection is a handy tool that allows you to quickly filter your data by selecting specific criteria. If you haven't set up your version of Excel to do this, be sure to check out episode 1239 of our podcast for a step-by-step guide. But in this episode, we're taking it a step further and exploring the new search ability in Excel 2010 filter. To demonstrate, I'll go to Data, Filter to turn on the filter and then use the dropdowns to search for all customers containing the word 'bank'. This quickly narrows down my data to just the banks, but I also want to include any companies with the words 'finance' or 'financial'. Here's where the new search feature comes in. Instead of manually selecting each company, I can simply search for 'Finan' and add the current selection to my filter. This way, I get all the banks and the finance companies in one go. This is a huge time-saver, especially when dealing with large datasets. Overall, the ability to search within the filter is a game-changer for Excel users. It allows for a more efficient and streamlined way of filtering data, making it easier to find the information you need.
