Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Fitting Data onto One Page | Adjusting Margins, Orientation, and Scale to Fit.

Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! In this episode, we'll be discussing a question sent in by Mary about fitting data onto one page. I suggested using the new Page Layout View in Excel 2007, which can be found next to the Zoom slider. This view allows you to quickly see where the page breaks will be, making it easier to adjust your data accordingly.

Mary's data was too wide to fit on one page, so we changed the orientation to Landscape and adjusted the margins to Narrow. This helped fit the data onto one page, but Mary needed more room for certain columns. This is where the Scale to Fit feature comes in. By selecting "Fit to 1 page wide" in the Page Layout section, we were able to fit about 36 rows of data onto one page.

However, it's important to be careful when using Scale to Fit. As you make columns wider, the font will become smaller and eventually unreadable. So, it's best to use this feature sparingly and only when necessary. Another helpful tip is to use the Custom Margins option to adjust the top and bottom margins if needed.

Overall, the Page Layout View is a great tool for working with data while also being able to see where page breaks will occur. And with the ability to change orientation and margins, it's easier than ever to fit data onto one page. Thank you to Mary for sending in this question and thank you for tuning in to another netcast from MrExcel! Don't forget to check out our sponsor, MrExcel.com, for all your Excel needs.
