This was the last question of the Question Paper 2017. This is one of the HOTS question from the book RD Sharma. This question involves the area of the semicircle and the triangle. This is a 4 marks question.





In the given figure, Triangle ABC is a right-angled triangle in which angle A is 90 degree. Semi Circles are drawn on AB, AC and BC as diameters. Find the area of the shaded region.

Solution First we need to find the total area. 
For this we will find the area of two smaller semicircles and the are of the triangle and add them up. 
Now the area of the shaded region is the total area minus the area of the largest semicircle.
