The glorious sounds of Maxine Nightingale, were first heralded with "Right Back Where We Started From", her worldwide gold hit single which charted in Australia in early 1976. Her follow up hit "Gotta be the One" although not as successful, still made Top 10 downunder, and unfortunately the last Top 40 hit for her there. "Lead me on" in 1979 was a Top 5 U.S hit, and a #1 Adult Contemporary. I have pretty much everything Maxine has recorded - several albums and extended versions of her various 70's hits. There is a joyous, soulful quality to her pop/disco hits. As a balladeer, and r&b singer, she is sublime. It is a crying shame, that she is mostly known as that singer of "Right Back Where We Started From", even though that is a pop classic, there is much more to Maxine's repertoire! She still tours and performs, and looks amazing - now making her home in America, originally from Britain. Enjoy!
