Nov 7, 2018. The Schnauzer has a first-time peeing blood in the urine and vomiting for one day. Bladder palpation revealed a 1 cm lump inside a bladder. This might be a bladder stone. The owner wanted the least medical cost and so no X-ray is done. A urine test in the lab shows the following: URINE CHEMISTRY: pH 6.5, SG 1.015, Nitrite is positive. Positive nitrites means bacterial infectionin the urinary tract. Ketones + may indicate diabetes. Blood 4+ was shown by red urine. URINE MICROSCOPY: White blood cells more than 900/uL. Red blood cells more than 1800/uL, Bacteria +, crystals Nil. No urinary crystals do not mean there are NO bladder stones. Dipstick. Urine pH was around 6 - 6.5, indicating an acidic urine. Struvite stones cannot be ruled out even though the urine pH is not alkaline.. FOLLOW UP TODAY Nov 8, 2018 6.20pm by phone. The owner said there is no haematuria or vomiting. The dog is eating and behaving normally. She ate a bit of the Urinary S/O. Antibiotics are prescribed for 14 days. 2 weeks later, dental work is advised. Spay is advised 1 month later.
