Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Customizing the Ribbon in Excel. Welcome back to the MrExcel podcast. In this episode, we will be wrapping up Chapter 2 of Excel 2010 by discussing the exciting topic of customizing the Ribbon. This feature was unfortunately removed in Excel 2007, but thankfully, it has made a comeback in Excel 2010. As someone who spends a lot of time on the Home and Data tabs, I have always wished for the ability to combine certain features from both tabs. And now, with the ability to customize the Ribbon, my wish has finally come true. To begin customizing the Ribbon, simply right-click on it and select "Customize the Ribbon". This will open up a new window where you can make changes to the Ribbon. First, we will add a new tab and rename it to "MrExcel". Then, we can move this tab to the left, placing it next to the Home tab. Now, we can start adding the features we want from different tabs. For example, we can add the Clipboard, Alignment, and Number features from the Home tab, the Pivot Table command from the Insert tab, and the Sort & Filter, Data Tools, and Outline features from the Data tab. Once we have added all the desired features, we can remove any unnecessary groups and click "OK" to save our changes. And just like that, we have our very own customized MrExcel tab with all the features we use most frequently. The best part is, we can export this customization and share it with our co-workers, making it easier for everyone to access the same custom tab. While it may not be as powerful as the customization options in Excel 2003, it is still a great feature to have in Excel 2010. Thank you for tuning in to this episode of the MrExcel podcast.
