Research has shown that about 90% of the moms all over the world would like to breastfeed, 40% of them would never initiate breastfeeding within the first six months. There are several barriers, one of which is a perceived insufficiency of milk because of which the artificial supplements are started on an untimely manner. The other barriers include not having enough time to breast feed, having to go back to work, and painful breasts, and baby not able to suck because of a medical condition or even perceived difficulty in sucking. Measures that we should setup in place to overcome these barriers are often available in hospitals, but sometimes you may have to go back to work and cut short the duration of breast feeding unless the workplace promotes breastfeeding..
