Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Today in Episode #1302 Bill shows us how to create a chart for each customer in our database. Using a Pivot Table to manipulate the data, some formatting and the "Show Report Filter Pages" option our task becomes simplified.

Welcome to the MrExcel podcast. In this episode, we will be discussing a cool trick to create a chart for every single customer in your database using a Pivot Table. This may be a longer episode than usual, but trust me, it's worth it.

To begin, insert a Pivot Table and select the data you want to use. In this case, we will be creating a chart showing revenue for each customer. To do this, we will need to take the customer field and place it in the Report Filter. This will allow us to filter the data by each individual customer.

Next, we will do some formatting to make the Pivot Table look more presentable. We will turn off grand totals and change the report layout to tabular form. We will also change the label for revenue to "Revenue" instead of "Sum of Revenue" and format the revenue amounts as percentages.

Now, here comes the cool part. We will go to the Pivot Table Tools and select "Options" on the left-hand side. Then, we will choose the drop-down next to the button and select "Show Report Filter Pages". This will create a new worksheet for each customer in the database.

Unfortunately, this trick does not work with Pivot Charts, so we will need to add a Pivot Chart for each customer manually. To do this, we will select all the customer sheets and choose "Line Group Sheets". Then, we will create our chart using our custom chart type that we saved as a template.

To make this process even easier, we can set our custom chart type as the default. This way, we can simply go to each sheet and press Alt+F1 to create the chart. And just like that, we have a chart for each customer in our database.

I hope you found this trick helpful and will use it to save time and effort in your future projects.
