Phillip Sear plays a short piece from a 'set within a set': 'Fragmente einem Tagebuch entnommen' (Fragments from a diary), from Poldini's 'Dekameron' from around 1903. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ede (Eduard) Poldini (1869-1957) was a Hungarian composer who studied in Budapest and Vienna, but spent much of his life in Switzerland. He is mainly remembered for his 1895 trifle "Poupée valsante" (Dancing Doll), but wrote much else including two operas (one of which - 'Hochzeit im Fasching' (Wedding in Carnival-Time, from 1924) - is available in a Hungarian recording), and much piano music. Poldini's 'Dekameron' appears to be a fascinating work. Described as 'Novellen und Novelletten', it consists of ten pieces, of which the eighth is itself a set of six short pieces. Alas this is the only part of Dekameron that I have so far seen! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------- Played by Phillip Sear http://www.psear.co.uk (Email: [email protected] WhatsApp: http://wa.me/441444483794 ) TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@pianogems
