A 5-month-old lionhead lop rabbit jumps down from the bed occasionally

Feb 15, 2018. Chinese New Year's Eve. Today, pet shop referred owner to me. Her rabbit is unable to bear much weight on the right front leg. Right back leg was spread out for about a month. X rays confirmed both hips are dislocated. Left hip is very painful on palpation and dislocation can be palpated. The Right hip dislocation was not obvious as the rabbit could still limp along as seen in the video. Right and left shoulder joints are OK. Confined to the small cage for 2 weeks, non-slippery flooring. Owner is advised that surgery on right hind hip (femoral head osteotomy) may risk the rabbit bearing more weight on the sprained right shoulder joint which may then dislocate. Ehmer sling is rarely successful as the right hind hip had been dislocated for some time (around a month).
