1st September, windy weather, the apple store approaches completion. A good crop is ripening although many apples have been lost as they have fallen before they could be picked. This is not ideal, Julia and I have too much else to do, I have often put up 'mistakes' without shame as this may be more useful to potential apple growers than only showing our successes. Note the poplar shelter belts bending as the absorb kinetic energy and so slow down the wind. This can save a lot of apples being blown off at this time of year. I have 2 weeks annual leave planned shortly to co-incide with the main apple picking, hopoe I have fixed the apple store roof by then!
