Is there a cooler dude on the planet? I have really only appreciated Bryan Ferry the last few years, since corralling and collating the thousands of songs that now comprise my MP3 collection. Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry were both big selling artists in Australia, and especially in 1976 and 1977, he was most prolific and present in the limelight thanks to his relationship with arguably the most beautiful woman in the world - Jerry Hall.

"Love is the drug" by Roxy Music, had earned a place in the charts earlier in 1976, reaching the Top 20, but it was the solo single and album "Let's stick together" and that legendary film clip with Jerry Hall playing the temptress and miming to the primal sounds of the woman on the record, that cemented his place in pop history. Entering the charts in the Spring of 1976, "Let's Stick Together" reached the top spot, and stuck to the Top 40 for more than 6 months taking it well into 1977. along with "This is Tomorrow" and "The Price of Love".

Once again ignorant of the history behind some cover versions, it was "The Price of Love" that was my favourite of his solo hits - with its almost tango like vibe and trumpet heralding stomper intro. The full throttled interpretation of the Everly Brothers classic was released in November of 1976, but did not climb as far as to even be a Top 20 hit. Bryan Ferry would once again dominate our charts in the 80's with both Roxy Music and his further solo releases. Regarded as the elegant gentleman of rock, there is something suave, dignified and oh so cool about this guy. Ii hope I have done him and the relationship with Ms Hall justice in this treatment of "The Price of Love". For all those that have been dumped - Revel in the Revenge and the smile on Ferry's face that the clip ends with.
