Comixology is the largest distributor of online comics in the work, collecting a wide range of comic books and putting them all under one roof. They recently announced, and released, the first four comics created in house as Comixology Originals. Now you can not only go to Comixology for your favorite Marvel, Image and other titles, but you will find comic books created by Amazon, and available through their print on demand service. Between this move, as well as the purchase of Millarworld by Netflix, which resulted in the creation and promotion of The Magic Order, we are seeing a shift in how comics are created and consumed. With Marvel being owned by Disney, DC owned by Time Warner, the purchase of Valiant by DMG and now moves like this, the landscape is changing. Is this a way for Amazon to make it easier for independent creators to produce and release content for their audience? Is it just another way for companies like Netflix and Amazon to mine comics for new video content? What does the future of comic books look like after 2018?
