Oni was started by some former Apple-employees but supposedly developed both for Mac and PC in parallel and released in 2001. There was a multiplayer version planned (just like in Marathon where I battled some ad agency collegues on our company's Ethernet in 1995 as the internet wasn't very fast back then), Rockstar later developed a Playstation 2 version and holds the rights today (they also allow to do Let's Plays: http://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200153756)
