MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) North and South players will battle it out on the field Saturday, but Thursday before they game they teamed up to put smiles on kids' faces. This has been an amazing experience, said Dee Ford, Auburn defensive end, South team. They left me just now because I was spending so much time with the kids. It's just an amazing experience for me.All these Alabama and Auburn fans, it's always fun, added University of Alabama punter Cody Mandell, South. It didn't matter what color jersey the players had on, they had a common goal: to cheer up children at USA Children's and Women's Hospital. Even though Saturday's game is front and center, the players took the time to autograph footballs and pose for pictures. The Senior Bowl, it's an honor to be invited to the Senior Bowl but this game's about more than just football, it's more than just getting to the NFL to be able to give back to this community is a tremendous honor for all of us, said Gabe Ikard, University of Oklahoma offensive line, South. So when you get the opportunity to come over here and visit with the kids and talk to them about what's on the TV, you know, what they've been doing for the day, it's always fun to take their mind off what's really going on, added Mandell.A lot of the players, on the way out, comment about what it meant for them.
