Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Create Custom Themes in Excel.

Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! In this video, we will be discussing how to create custom themes in Excel 2007. Last week, we talked about customizing colors in Excel 2003, so let's finish up by learning how to do the same in Excel 2007.

To create a custom theme in Excel 2007, you will need to choose one of the built-in effects and then select two different fonts for your theme. This can be done by going to the Page Layout tab, clicking on Fonts, and then selecting "Create New Theme Fonts". From there, you can choose a heading font and a body font that you prefer. Once you have made your selections, click on "Save" to save your custom fonts.

Next, you will need to define the colors for your theme. A theme in Excel 2007 consists of six accent colors, two text colors, and two background colors. You can choose any RGB value for your colors, giving you a wide range of options to create the perfect theme for your project. Once you have defined all of your colors, click on "Save" to save your custom theme.

To make your custom theme easily accessible, you can save it by going to the Themes drop-down menu and selecting "Save Current Theme". This will create a THMX file that can be found in the Document Themes folder, located under Documents and Settings > Your User ID > Application Data > Microsoft > Templates. You can then copy this file and distribute it to multiple computers, making it possible to have a company-wide theme with your company's colors and logo.

Creating a custom theme in Excel 2007 is much easier than it was in Office 2003. This makes it a great tool for businesses to create a cohesive look across all of their documents.
