Two abandoned kittens drown and three need medical care in Adams County

ADAMS COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) - Two kittens died and three became very sick when someone dropped them off in a plastic container on a rainy night in Adams County.

The Humane Society of Adams County said someone left the five kittens at the shelter gate in the plastic tote with no lid. The kittens were two young to crawl out and there were several inches of water in the container by morning.

Two of the kittens drowned. A third was resuscitated by the shelter director. The Humane Society says the three surviving kittens are not out of the woods. They have severe upper respiratory infections and will need weeks of care and medication. The shelter expects each kitten will need $200 in costs to recover and to eventually be adopted.

The Humane Society says the West Union shelter is at capacity and to take any more animals would create a risk for the animals already there.
