CPD releases extended body cam video from Fifth Third Center shooting

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - We've seen the bodycam video of officers taking down a man determined to shoot as many as possible.

Four officers shot at the suspect to stop him from harming innocent people last Thursday at the Fifth Third building on Fountain Square.

Inside of the bank, even after a traumatic event, officers still had to keep working making sure there were no other shooters.

People who were hiding emerged after the gunfire.

Meanwhile, officers explained to people coming to work or doing business that they couldn't go inside.

What you don't see on camera are the officers locating victims and getting them help.

An officer is heard over the radio saying, "Apparently we've got some victims on the loading dock of the Fifth Third building."

Another sergeant is heard over the radio helping a victim:

"I need fire in front of Graeter's. I have one female victim here. I am attempting to apply a tourniquet now."

The bodycam shows the command staff arriving. That's the chief, the assistant chiefs, and the captains.

Assistant Chief Michael John checks on an officer who fired on the suspect:

"You okay?" John asks. The officer answers, "I'm good. Yes, sir."

What could've been chaos ran smoothly because of training and professionalism.

The officers involved in the shooting are still off work which is standard after an officer-involved shooting.

The city manager says "active shooter training" will be offered to all workers employed by the city.

It will start in October.
