Judge panel to decide if man will get death penalty after beating sister to death

WARREN COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) - A three-judge panel will decide if a local man should get the death penalty for killing his sister in an attempt to get drug money.

The penalty phase began Monday for Christopher Kirby in Warren County Court. Kirby beat his sister Debbie Power to death with a bat in September 2017.

Kirby and his wife were living in Power's South Lebanon home. Investigators say after the murder, Kirby stole Power's TV to buy heroin.

Kirby's wife, Jacqueline, is already on probation for her part in the crime. She was convicted of receiving stolen property and misuse of credit cards.
