Each year I put together a montage of some personal heroes and favourites of mine that passed away in the previous year and who meant something to me. Some, I posted individual tributes at the time of their death; others mentioned here as a way to say goodbye. There are big names; and some names that most people won't have heard of, but they all left their mark on me, and if I remember them well and fondly, then they never really depart, as either their work, or my personal experience of them is always with me. There are Australian, British and American actors; TV & Film Producers, Writers and Journalists and an Icon who really only ever needed one name! Some of these people I worked with; others I admired from afar. Some were part of my childhood; others I have gained a huge admiration and respect for during my 54 years. Their passing is sad; but their individual contributions are impactful. Again these are just my personal favourites looking at long lists of the folk who left the world in 2018. 2018 saw the death of many international people: A former American President and the First Lady; the wife of perhaps one of the most famous men of last century and an Anti Apartheid hero; and a creator of Superheroes. A man whose impairments did not prevent him from being as leading writer and thinker. These people among countless others left their mark on the world and on history. However these are my selections.
