Short video shows work interrupted by weather, as often happens. We are turning over an area of soft fruit bushes (gooseberries and blackcurrants) to plums, I was burning off the old bushes when hit by strong weather which all but put out the fire. Damson blossom is coming on, but it is very cold and windy so pollination might be a problem as the bees and other insects find it so hard to fly. Plums need fine weather at blossom time so are always an uncertain prospect in England. We can but hope. Added September 2008-we hoped in vain. No plums this year. Plums are worth growing, but don't stake your livelihood on them as plum blossom comes at a time of most unreliable weather and this is that can happen.
