MCSO: Dakota Burke had Burns, Bruises All Over Her Body

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) The Mobile County Sheriffs Office says Dakota Burkes mother told EMS she found her daughter unresponsive in her bed on Dec. 31. The 20-month-old was taken to the emergency room at Providence Hospital. Deputies say the child has several injuries, mostly bruises and burns all over her body. The childs hands, feet and face were burned, according to deputies. There was noticeable trauma to the face and head of the child, deputies said. Dakota was taken to USA Medical Center Trauma Unit that same day because of the severity of her injuries. Mobile County Sheriffs Deputies say on Jan. 7, a search warrant was conducted at the home where Dakota lived. On Jan. 8, Dakota passed away. The sheriffs office, along with the Mobile County District Attorney, have been interviewing family members, family friends, emergency responders, doctors, hospital staff and others who have had contact with the child.
