ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WPMI) After another record breaking summer of tourism, Orange Beach is about to experience its first growth spurt in more than half a decade.

"We haven't had this many permits pulled in probably seven years, so things are happening," said Tony Kennon, Mayor of Orange Beach.

Several major developments are in the works, and there's no way of stopping it.

"The growth that we are experiencing now, is already on properties that are already zoned to be developed, if they meet the zoning requirements, we can't stop them," Mayor Kennon explained.

The additions come mostly in the form of hotels and condos. As these projects are bound to bring in more visitors in town, traffic becomes a concern.

Mayor Kennon said city leaders are left to mitigate as best as they can so that the upcoming projects don't cause issues later on.
