Reunion at Cincinnati Zoo brings together TTTS families

AVONDALE, Ohio (WKRC) - Folks were seeing double at the Cincinnati Zoo Saturday.

It was a reunion for families that experienced twin-twin transfusion syndrome, or TTTS.

The condition happens in pregnancy when identical twins share a placenta. Without treatment, it can be fatal.

For the doctors who have performed the surgery, it was a heartwarming day.

Surgeons at the Cincinnati Fetal Center have performed more than 1,000 surgeries for TTTS since 2004.
