New mural downtown will feature Cincinnati Zoo's Fiona

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Cincinnati's famous hippo will get some major recognition in a new mural.

Artworks unveiled the upcoming design, chosen out of 60 submissions.

The Cincinnati Zoo's resident Fiona defied odds in 2017 after her premature birth. She not only survived but thrived under the world's watchful eyes.

A work by professional illustrator and designer, Fort Thomas native Lucie Rice, was chosen by 21,000 public votes submitted earlier in May.

The mural will be painted downtown at 910 Race Street starting in July.
