Child in Hospital After Falling from Escalator

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) A child is in the hospital after falling from an escalator Saturday afternoon. 

Steve Huffman, Public Information Officer for Mobile Fire-Rescue, tells Local15 an 11-year-old fell from the top of an escalator on the second floor to the first floor at the SEARS Department Store in Bel Air Mall. 

Officials responded to the incident shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday and rushed the child to USA Medical Center where he is listed in serious condition. 

The name of the child has not been released.
