I was wracked with more indecision than normal as to what weapon to feature going into this Splatfest, and to be honest, I didn't actually decide until the evening when it began. Namely, I just introduced the Booyah Bomb, and now there are two sub weapons and one special weapon I haven't shown yet. (They are the Fizzy Bomb and Torpedo for sub weapons and the Ultra Stamp for the special weapons.) I was going to showcase atleast one of these, but they're all Kensa weapons, and I've only covered most of the branded weapons recently--or in the case of a few, haven't covered the branded weapons yet. So I decided I'll just continue on and save all this for the next Splatfest or something. Hence, allow me to introduce to you the Clash Blaster Neo. When I covered the unbranded Clash Blaster, I admittedly wasn't sure what to do with it. It's a poor inker and has very short range. Unlike the Luna Blaster, its explosions aren't very large. I was getting annihilated. Since then, I learned how you're supposed to use it. Most of my observatons made during then were true: Avoid getting into straight, narrow hallways because you'll be destroyed by anyone with a longer range weapon than you (though the Neo has some ways to fight back, but more on that later), establish a small space around yourself in wide-open spaces so you can maneuver, go for splats via ambushing and flanking rather than head-on duels because you're not going to win the latter, and because of its splat-oriented nature, this was actually meant for Ranked. A couple of things I realized later, however. One of them is that the Clash Blaster CAN work in Turf War. Otherwise, you'd see a lot less of it in Turf War than you currently do, and I'd be insane to carry this thing into a Splatfest. However, the Clash Blaster is an incomplete weapon in Turf War--it needs space to flank and dodge, yet it's very bad at inking. This means you need to rely on at least one teammate to ink the ground for you to establish yourself, but once you do, you're a splatting machine. But because of this trait, that makes the Clash Blaster in Turf War NOT a front line weapon. Let your Aerosprays, Splattershot Jr.'s, and other inking weapon users go on ahead of you, and you can deal with the opposition they'll find. The other thing is that, unlike most of the other short-range weapons in the game, due to its inferior inking capacity, it actually has the trait carried by most LONG-range weapons in that a Clash Blaster user has a hard time taking a lead away from the opposing team but an easy time maintaining and strengthening that lead once obtained. The Clash Blaster Neo comes with Curling Bombs and Tenta Missiles. The Curling Bomb gives you better maneuvering and a longer-range attack than the unbranded Clash Blaster (outside of the Sting Ray), as well as an option for fighting in cramped spaces. However, because it has a very focused inking pattern and must rely on flanking, traveling along the Curling Bomb's path is not recommended against savvy opponents, as they'll be expecting it. Instead, use it as a decoy: Throw a Curling Bomb from an unseen corner, then move somewhere else and come at them from a different angle. As the Clash Blaster is splat-oriented, use the Tenta Missiles to place additional pressure onto an opponent you can reach, as they'll be too busy dodging or waiting out the missiles to deal with you coming in and shooting at them too. Like the vanilla version, the Clash Blaster Neo rules at Tower Control, both in challenging and defending, but the Curling Bomb hinders it somewhat. Those Curling Bombs, however, can be quite useful in Rainmaker and Clam Blitz by providing quick paths for your Rainmaker or Power Clam carriers, but beware of opponents who see what you're doing. Match #1 New Albacore Hotel Splatfest Turf War Clash Blaster Neo Color Scheme: Mr. Grinch Song: "Acid Hues" by Off the Hook Titles: The Squid Gang (Good Guys) This stage is oddly rare in Splatfest. Also got more splats in narrow pathways than I expected. Match #2 Skipper Pavilion Splatfest Turf War Clash Blaster Neo Color Scheme: Mr. Grinch Song: "Ebb & Flow" by Off the Hook Titles: (none) This is the first time we see Skipper Pavilion's normal Splatfest look. Match #3 Ancho-V Games Splatfest Turf War Clash Blaster Neo Color Scheme: Mr. Grinch Song: "Ebb & Flow" by Off the Hook Titles: The Variety Crew (Good Guys), The Shooter Squid Warriors (Bad Guys) Apparently, Blasters and regular Shooters (Automatics) don't count as the same class of weapon to get the "Variety" tag for your team. Match #4 Shifty Station Splatfest Turf War Clash Blaster Neo Color Scheme: Mr. Grinch Song: "Muck Warfare" by Off the Hook Titles: The Variety Syndicate (Good Guys) Here it is! This one features Gushers. More on that in the next video.
