One of the Carnival Cruise Line passengers stranded for several days in the Gulf before finally being towed in Mobile last year, testified on Capitol Hill about safety concerns on board cruise ships. Kim Ware of Houston told a Senate Committee the Carnival Triumph had no disaster plan in place when the ship lost power in the Gulf after engine problems. She described how feces in biohazard bags lined the ships hallways once the sewage system stopped working. Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller has been pushing the Cruise Passenger Protection Act introduced last year.
