BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WPMI) Baldwin County School Superintendent Dr. Alan Lee is speaking out after accusations were made against him by a former principal. Dr. Lee said he's confident an investigation will reveal the claims were fabricated.Former Orange Beach Principal Lori Brocato was fired last week by the Baldwin County School Board. During that termination hearing, she publicly attacked Dr. Alan Lee's character over a letter that spelled out why she was terminated.It's a detailed two page letter that chronicle quotes from interviews of fellow staff members and teachers.For close to two years Lori Brocato was recognized as a progressive principal at Orange Beach Elementary, even helping the school in its recognition as one of the safest schools in the country.Accomplished and proud Brocato spoke to Local 15 then: One of the things they said they were looking for was the implementation of technology to make a school safer, said Brocato during a previous interview on school security.Now nearly a week after the school board voted to terminate her employment come the details in a letter the superintendent wrote to Brocato, giving the reasons as incompetence and neglect of duty. A closer look at the letter gives specific reasons, citing inappropriate comments made in front of students and staff.One quote reads: If that was my child, I would've drowned them at birth like people do to puppies.The letter states Brocato was referring to a child with special needs.The letter continues with more alleged quotes like, This is why I don't have children, I would have drowned them.The letter says she was referring to a unruly kindergartner. At her termination hearing Brocato then attacked Dr. Lee's character, saying he had acted inappropriately towards her.Lori Brocato, made serious false, slanderous accusations, said Dr. Lee. Brocato, on the advice her attorney is not commenting any further. I am very pleased that the board is going to conduct an independent investigation because I'm confident that investigation will verify that the accusations she made were fabricated in order to shift focus away from the grounds for her termination, said Dr. Lee.Local 15 reached out to Brocato's attorney Wednesday. He said there would be no comment.
