Football Legend in Town for GoDaddy Bowl

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) GoDaddy's 16-year presence in the Port City has made its bowl game an event many look forward to right after New Year's. Friday, the coaches, athletic directors and athletes were officially welcomed back.

"The University of Toledo Rockets and the Red Wolves from Arkansas State University: welcome to Mobile and the GoDaddy Bowl but of course, this isn't the first time that either team has been in Mobile for our bowl game," said Mobile City Councilwoman Gina Gregory.

The Toledo Rockets and the Arkansas State Red Wolves are set tangle on the gridiron Sunday night. As they sat side by side at the GoDaddy Mayor's Luncheon, you wouldn't be able to tell these players were competitors.

"We do have a lot of guys who've been here before but you would not know it. They do every event like it's the first time. They had a great time with game nigh the other night, We just left the Children's Hospital, just a little bit ago, and just to see the looks on their faces and how they interacted. There's a lot of great things going on this weekend, and we're gonna finish it off with a great football game."

Among those familiar faces, former NFL quarterback and college football Hall of Famer Joe Theismann was the guest speaker at Friday's luncheon. Before players went head to head, Theismann had a heart to heart with the audience," said , Arkansas State University Head Football Coach, Blake Anderson.

"It's such a wonderful experience for these young men, it's a great honor to have an opportunity to speak at the Mayor's Luncheon a little bit later, and I appreciate this chance to be with you, and good luck to both teams," Theismann said.

The GoDaddy bowl kicks off Sunday at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Tune in at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
