PENSACOLA, Fla. (WPMI) Governor Rick Scott is promising a billion dollars in tax breaks as he seeks re-election. Wednesday his campaign trail brought him to northwest Florida. Scott was at New World Landing in Pensacola in the morning, In the afternoon, he was at offices of the Ropella Group, a head hunting and marketing firm in Santa Rosa County. Recent reports have raised concerns whether the state can afford what Scott, or even his rival Charlie Crist, is promising. State economists issued a revenue forecast for the upcoming year. Wednesday, Scott said he is certain there will be enough in the budget for tax cuts. "If you look at what's happened, we have thousand of people moving here, we have so many jobs coming here and we have fewer people on unemployment. What that means is we have more state revenues in the state every year so were to make sure we give some of that to citizens," said Scott. Scott will be at Lee GMC Buick in Crestview Thursday at 3:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
