CPD: Woman Raped in Cemetery

CITRONELLE, Ala. (WPMI) A Citronelle man is accused of kidnapping a woman from her home and raping her in a cemetery. Kenneth Burt, 51, is in Mobile Metro Jail charged with first degree rape and first degree kidnapping. The victim told authorities Burt came to her home, asked for a beer, then asked her to drive his truck out of her driveway. The victim said once she got in the truck, Burt tried to sexually assault her. She said he pushed her into the passenger seat and handcuffed her. "So he handcuffed her, pushed her over the console of the vehicle, and at that time left her residence and drove into Citronelle to the Pinecrest Cemetery where he sexually assaulted her at that point," said Citronelle Police Chief Shane Stringer. Court documents show Burt has a past conviction of rape, sexual abuse and burglary. He is set to appear before a judge Tuesday morning.
