MIDFIELD, Ala. (AP) -- Jefferson County sheriff's officials say a man accused of dousing his ex-girlfriend in gasoline and lighting her on fire has been arrested. Sheriff's spokesman Randy Christian says 48-year-old Michael Kennedy of Mulga was arrested Monday afternoon at a house in Midfield on charges of domestic violence and attempted murder. Investigators have said Kennedy had been dating the 49-year-old woman who recently ended their relationship. Sgt. Jack Self said witnesses told investigators Kennedy returned to the woman's house Sunday morning and she was lit on fire after an argument. Authorities have said the woman suffered burns to her head, arms, upper body and legs, and she's hospitalized in serious condition. According to jail records, Kennedy is being held on $60,000 bond. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
