MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) As the Deep South defreezes, the Mizell Towing Company switched gears into recovery mode. Its been nonstop all day long, said Brian Mizell, tow truck driver. The slick roadways from the historic winter storm left thousands of drivers in Birmingham and Atlanta stranded. In Mobile, tow truck drivers got a jump start on the cleanup, planning ahead for the winter weather. But even some things cant be predicted, as the sleet covers the streets, hundreds of calls came into the company; half from law enforcement navigating the dangerous conditions and some from the truck drivers themselves. I had a call on Fairway Drive, where the car went out on the ditch and I after got and my truck went off in the ditch so I had to call another truck to come get me out, he said. After three days of skidding across the ice and sleet, hes happy to be back behind the wheel, cleaning up his city on solid ground.
