UPDATE 6:32PM: MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Shortly before 6:30 p.m. Shawn Taylor was arrested and he admitted to everything telling reporters he had a gun and was running from police at the time of the shooting. PREVIOUS STORYMOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) An incident on Live Oak Street marks the second officer-involved shooting in Mobile in less than a week. Authorities say around 2 p.m. an officer approached two suspects in the area of Live Oak and Persimmon streets after reports of drug activity. As the officer began questioning one of the suspects, identified as Shawn Taylor, the 23-year-old reached for his gun.At that point, the officer fired multiple shots striking Taylor once in the buttocks. Taylor was taken to USA Medical center and is undergoing surgery. Taylor has been arrested for not having a pistol permit, attempting to elude, resisting arrest, menacing and certain person forbidden.A second suspect was arrested and later released. The officer was not injured.Just feet away, sat Mercedes Taylor, Shawn‚„ sister. She has a very different perspective of what happened on Live Oak Street.   ‚“They just shot him. How did they know he was reaching for a gun?‚ she said, ‚“It‚„s so many incidents going on where police think they can just get out and shoot somebody down and that‚„s not right, I think something should be done about it.‚District Attorney Ashley Rich said from the information she has received, the shooting appears to be justified. As with all officer-involved shootings, the case will be presented to the grand jury. This is the second Mobile Police officer-involved shooting in less than a week.
