The mix here from my friend Chris, and the clip the original of Walter Egan's 1978 hit 'Magnet & Steel'. This song was a favourite of mine from that year; but it was not until coming to make my own youtube clips for the song that I appreciated the ingredients that made it so special. It is 5 years nearly to the very date that I posted the single version of 'Magnet & Steel'. The song was not a nig hit here, but in America it went Top 10 and in Canada and New Zealand too. I always liked Walter's sweet and textured tones and of course the exquisite back up vocals of both Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham (the latter produced the track too). There's a swoon like; dreamy quality to this recording. It may not have been a big hit here (#32) but it spent 14 weeks on the chart and it appeared on a Polygram various artists compile 'Hit Wave' 1978 and so I had a pristine version of the track on my cassette; as opposed to the dodgy one i recorded off the radio! Oh the 1970's!
