Commercial airliners have been flying passengers around the globe for 100  years. And it appears the wave of the future is about to arrive with electric planes.

Airbus has developed a hybrid electric motor glider called E-Fan. The two-seater plane is powered by two batteries that can last for half an hour.

Airbus said it will be used to train pilots trying to get their license in France by 2017.
