Phillip Sear plays the last piece from an 1890 set of '3 Morceaux' by the Polish organist, conductor and composer Mieczysław Surzyński (1866-1924). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mieczysław Surzyński (1866-1924) studied organ at the conservatories in Berlin and Leipzig. From 1890 , he was the artistic director and later director of the Musical Society Orchestra in Poznań; and from 1906 to 1909 he was conductor of the Warsaw Philharmonic choirs. From 1906 to 1924 , he was a professor of organ at the Institute of Music in Warsaw, and from 1909 he taught counterpoint there. His best-known work is the organ ' Improwizacje na temat "Święty Boże' (improvisation on a Polish theme 'Holy God').
