#13 of 20 Préludes Mélodiques (Vingt études de genre) (1863) -------------------------------------------------------------------- The composer and pianist Joseph Rummel (1818-80) was a member of a German family of musicians - his father, Christian, was a composer and conductor, and his grandson Walter was a well-known transcriber for piano of works by Bach, Liszt and others. This attractive 'Ave Maria' comes across as a blend of Henselt (who included an 'Ave Maria' in his Op.5 set of studies) and Cramer.
