Finally, a use for my car's CD player. Good grip on the phone, won't shake loose on bumpy roads. Amazon Affiliate Product Link: http://amzn.to/1PmEzB7

I can't remember the last time I even owned a CD it's been so long since I've used the CD player in my car. This phone mount gives the CD player a new purpose and lease on life. It also happens to be conveniently positioned for having a screen; like upgrading to a car with an LCD center console GPS.

The phone mount is made of plastic with a metal C-spring providing the tension for the clamp. It fits phones with 1.25" to 3" widths and sits atop a ball joint on a single axis arm so you can manipulate it in a number of directions and angles. The jaws of the clamp are easy to pull apart with one hand but keeps a firm hold on your phone with the silicone grooves for your phone. On the worst roads that feel like riding wooden roller coasters, the mount had no trouble holding onto the phone or staying put in the CD player. I didn't like was that the mounting tabs kind of messed up the dust protector that sits on the face of the CD slot; the two felt strips that block dust from falling into the CD player were a bit wrinkled where the tabs were after removing the mount.

Installing it was a bit tricky too, as I felt I head to put a lot of downward pressure to line up the side arms with the center tab, but I guess that's what helps it stay in place after it's inserted in the slot. I like that while installed in the center console, the phone isn't obstructing my view because it is not adhered to the windshield or dashboard.
